NEST stands for the National Employment Savings Trust. Compass has chosen NEST as its workplace pension scheme for those employees that are eligible to be automatically enrolled into a scheme. It is fully compliant with our auto-enrolment obligations.

NEST is run by a trustee body call NEST Corporation, made up of members selected from a wide range of experience and pensions industry knowledge.

NEST Corporation is a non-departmental public body (NDPB) that operates at arm's length from government and is accountable to Parliament through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

NDPBs are public organisations but they're not part of the government and the day-to-day decisions they make are generally independent.  However, government ministers are ultimately responsible to Parliament for the effectiveness of decisions made by NDPBs.

It was set up with the help of a Government loan and was put in place to provide a method of meeting auto enrolment pension obligations for any employer that wanted to use it.
